The Economist Cites Eugene Volokh’s First Amendment Insight on Janus v. AFSCME

Professor Eugene Volokh was quoted by The Economist for his First Amendment insight on Janus v American Federation of State, County of Municipal Employees, which asks whether public employees who choose not to join their designated union may be charged agency fees to support collective bargaining.

“A compelled subsidy does not itself burden a free-standing First Amendment interest in freedom of speech or association,” wrote Volokh and William Baude, a law professor at the University of Chicago.
