Warhol v. Goldsmith Lunchtime Event

October 19, 2022 12:15 PM - 1:30 PM

On October 12, 2022, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments on the important copyright case of Andy Warhol Found., Inc. v. Goldsmith. The Warhol case addresses fair use and, in particular, the question of transformativeness in connection with Warhol’s use of a prominent photographer’s portrait of Prince.
Fair use is an essential element of many forms of entertainment and media, including music, journalism, publishing, narrative and documentary film, video games and social media.

Please join UCLA Professors David Nimmer, Mark McKenna, and Xiyin Tang for a presentation of this case and discussion moderated by Professor Dale Cohen. Lunch will be provided!
