Purvi Patel

Lecturer in Law

Purvi Patel is a part-time Lecturer at UCLA School of Law and teaches Class Actions in Practice. She is a full-time partner at Morrison & Foerster LLP.  Her practice cuts across MoFo’s Class Actions + Mass Torts and Privacy + Data Security Groups, operating effectively at the intersection of privacy, consumer products and services, and emerging technology. She represents retail, e-commerce, and other consumer-oriented businesses in significant advertising, unfair competition, consumer fraud, and privacy matters. Patel is also the Hiring Partner and Office Managing Partner for the firm’s Los Angeles office.

Patel received her B.A. with honors at The University of Chicago and her J.D. at Loyola University Chicago. During law school, Patel was a senior member of the Loyola Law Journal, and served as the faculty-appointed student member of the school’s Dean Search Committee. In 2005, she was named the National Association of Women Lawyers’ Outstanding Law Student for Loyola.  She started her career as an associate at McDermott Will & Emery in Chicago. In addition, she clerked for the Honorable Blanche M. Manning in the USDC for the Northern District of Illinois from January-February 2007 and the Honorable Consuelo B. Marshall in the USDC for the Central District of California from October 2008-October 2009.
