Ruthie Lazenby

Shapiro Fellow in Environmental Law and Policy

Ruthie Lazenby (she/her) is the Shapiro Fellow in Environmental Law and Policy at UCLA School of Law for 2023-2025, where her work will focus on energy law and regulation. She was previously a Staff Attorney at the Environmental Justice Clinic at Vermont Law School and a Legal Fellow in the Environmental Justice program at New York Lawyers for the Public Interest.

Lazenby received her B.A. from Wesleyan University and her J.D. from Yale Law School. In law school, she was an editor for the Law and Political Economy Blog and provided confidential counseling and assistance to other students as a Peer Advocate.

Her work has been published in the Yale Law Journal Forum and by the Center for Agriculture and Food Systems at Vermont Law School. She has a chapter forthcoming in Springer’s Sustainable Finances and the Law: Between Public and Private Solutions.
