LAW 525

Patent Intensive

Intellectual Property, Technology & the Law

This seminar is designed to allow students to delve deeply into current issues and controversies in patent law.  The seminar is co-taught by two partners from the law firm of Irell & Manella who specialize in patent litigation: Alan Heinrich and Keith Orso.  Students either must already have taken Patent Law or Intellectual Property or must seek permission from Professors Heinrich or Orso.  The idea of the seminar is to dive into fundamental and advanced issues in patent law with an eye towards practical and strategic considerations.  Each student will turn in a final paper on a patent-law topic of the student's choosing.  No technical background is required.
