Telecommunications Regulation


Entertainment Law, Technology & the Law

This course introduces the regulatory regime that governs the broadcast radio, broadcast television, cable television, wireline telephone, wireless telephone, and Internet industries. Students enrolled in the course will learn about the administrative procedures and mechanisms that are relevant to both federal and state rule-making, and students will also be exposed to the various economic concepts that undergird those rules. Students should consider this course if they are interested in learning how the state and federal governments regulate various communications markets, and students should also consider this course if they are interested in other regulated markets, like the markets for water or electricity, which raise similar administrative and economic issues.
