UCLA Law is proud of the depth and breadth of the careers and interests pursued by our students prior to law school. Our students have excelled in almost every industry. The following is just a sampling of some of the outstanding pre-law school accomplishments of the class of 2020.
The class includes four student body or student government presidents, four Fulbright winners, award-winning debaters, a Coro Fellow, a UC Student Regent, a student representative on a White House task force and a member of the Mensa Society.
BusinessA number of students are entrepreneurs who have started their own businesses. The class also includes professionals from the finance, real estate, and management consulting industries.
Arts & Entertainment The incoming class has a wealth of experience in the art, entertainment and media industries and includes the star of a hit Broadway musical, producers, journalists and numerous instrumentalists and dancers.
Government Students in the Class of 2020 have worked or interned for The White House, the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and for numerous U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives and candidates for elected office. The incoming class also includes a U.S. Army Company Executive Officer in command of a 50 soldier company and a U.S. Army First Lieutenant who personally led U.S. and Afghan forces on over 90 counter-insurgency missions.
Public Service Students are passionate about a variety of issues and have worked or volunteered for organizations like Teach for America, The World Bank, The Nature Conservancy, ACLU, JusticeCorps, Center for American Progress, NAACP, the National Organization for Women, and the Feminist Majority Foundation to name only a few.
Athletics The class includes competitive athletes in the sports of swimming, soccer, volleyball, water polo, cross country, track and field, rugby, baseball and football.
Bar Passage Rate For The Class Of 2016Approximately 82% of the UCLA Law graduates who took the July 2016 California Bar Exam for the first time passed the examination. The statewide bar passage rate average for first-time test takers was approximately 62%. For UCLA Law graduates taking the July 2016 New York Bar Exam, the passage rate was 91.6% for first-time test takers.
